A First for 7-Eleven: 2 Restaurants at 1 Store

Evolution store adds Raise the Roost, Parlor Pizza as retailer plans to open nearly 150 restaurants in 2021

IRVING, Texas — A new 7-Eleven Evolution Store in Manassas, Va., is home to the convenience-store chain’s first location with two restaurant options in one location. The retailer plans to open close to 150 restaurants in 2021.

Raise the Roost Chicken and Biscuits, a restaurant that opened its first location a year ago in Manhattan, will be joined at the Manassas store by Parlor Pizza, which offers hand-tossed made-to-order pies.

One of eight experiential stores 7-Eleven operates in the United States, the Manassas Evolution Store has other features such as a wine cellar and beer cooler, fresh-baked-on-site croissants and cookies, customized espresso drinks and artisan craft sodas and sparkling waters.

“Since 7-Eleven began selling milk and bread from an ice dock in 1927, our spirit of innovation has allowed us to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of customers for over 90 years,” said 7-Eleven Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Tanco. “Today’s opportunity is in the QSR space, and we are responding by aggressively rolling out our restaurants across the country—both in Evolution Stores and beyond. Our plan is to open nearly 150 restaurants in 2021.”

Billed as “Chicken Worth Crossing the Road For,” Raise the Roost offers a simple menu of fried chicken tenders hand-breaded with southern spices, freshly baked flaky biscuits, bone-in and boneless wings tossed with “made in coop” sauces, signature chicken sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches. The in-store restaurant offers made-to-order and grab-and-go options.

Parlor features a full pizzeria menu and includes New York-style pizzas, calzones, garlic knots, pepperoni rolls and hot and cold sub sandwiches. Customers can choose baked whole pizzas or slices or select made to order 18-inch hand-tossed pizzas with ingredients including 100% whole milk mozzarella cheese. Specialty pizzas with premium ingredients are also on the menu. A conveyor-style oven ensures pizzas, calzones and other baked items are ready in minutes.

The two on-site restaurants are side by side in the store, with separate ordering counters and shared indoor and outdoor seating.

In keeping with its experiential, experimental vibe, the Manassas Evolution Store also is the first Evolution location to serve as a real-world testing ground for 7-Eleven’s Sips and Snacks emerging brands program. Customers will be able to purchase items they won’t find at many other 7-Eleven stores or retailers.

Based in Irving, Texas, 7-Eleven Inc. operates, franchises or licenses more than 72,800 stores in 17 countries, including more than 9,500 in the United States.

7-Eleven Brings Two Food Concepts Under One Roof

Its first new build store in Tennessee is the first to offer both Laredo Taco Co. and Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — 7-Eleven Inc.’s first new build convenience store in the state of Tennessee will also be the very first to feature its two most popular restaurant concepts under one roof. The new store in Murfreesboro, located south of Nashville, will offer both the Laredo Taco Co. and Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits.

The c-store retailer plans to open many stores in the greater Nashville area in 2021, five of which will have one or more on-site restaurants. 7-Eleven currently operates more than 40 stores in Tennessee, seven of which have Laredo Taco Co. restaurants. The Murfreesboro store will house the state’s first Raise the Roost.

“Tennessee has a booming economy and some of the fastest-growing cities in the country,” said Brad Williams, 7-Eleven senior vice president of corporate operations and restaurant platforms. “This new store concept offers 7-Eleven-style convenience, plus two great restaurant-quality dining options — all in a single stop. As we open more stores in the Nashville area, we plan to exceed Tennesseans’ expectations with Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits, Laredo Taco Co. and all the other great products and services found in 7-Eleven stores across the country.”

Owned and operated by 7-Eleven, Laredo Taco Co. is an authentic Mexican quick-service restaurant that is known for its handmade flour tortillas that are made from scratch daily in-store, as well as its fresh salsa bar with a wide selection of salsas and pico de gallo. Tacos and meals include specialties not always seen in quick-serve Mexican restaurants such as authentic beef barbacoa, chorizo, carne asada, carnitas and breakfast tacos made with fresh-cracked eggs, according to the company.

Raise the Roost is 7-Eleven’s Southern-inspired chicken concept restaurant, billed as “Chicken Worth Crossing the Road For.” Its simple menu features both made-to-order and grab-and-go options: fried chicken tenders hand-breaded with a proprietary blend of Southern spices, flaky freshly-baked biscuits, bone-in and boneless wings handspun with “made in coop” sauces, chicken sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches.

Both restaurants will be set side-by-side inside the Murfreesboro store at 1509 Joe B. Jackson Parkway. They will have separate ordering counters but share indoor and outdoor seating.

The new store will also have 7-Eleven’s signature items, including fresh-brewed coffee, Big Gulp and Slurpee drinks and Big Bite hot dogs, as well as hot-to-go and fresh-baked pizza, taquitos, fresh sandwiches and salads, baked-in-store cookies and pastries and 7-Select private brand products.

Based in Irving, 7-Eleven operates, franchises and/or licenses more than 77,000 c-stores in 16 countries and regions, including nearly 16,000 in North America.
